NOVA Estate.

The 2014 edition of the “Ex Ceramica festival” sees NOVA’s debut as a promoter of great international music.
NOVA Summer is a series of events patronized by the Municipality in line with the the path already undertaken. This edition will host two worldwide famous artists in their European tour to present their new albums.

July 29th HooverPhonic – Reflection Tour 2014
The band has chosen the former factory area to launch their new work, their eighth studio album, released on May 27th, 2014. Alex Callier, Raymond Geerts and Noémie Wolfs are slowly but surely making a unique name for themselves in the Belgian and international music scene. Reflection is without doubt one of the most lively, energetic and up-tempo albums the band has ever made. And a return to analogue too. “What we play, is what you get!”
From “A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular” in 1996 to “Reflection” in 2013 up until now it had been a wild and eclectic ride for Hooverphonic. Forever on the move. Forever in search of a new sound with its own character. Timeless.
Eighteen years passed by since their debut album “A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular” was released.

Hooverphonic has made a decisive return to the natural analogue sound. “I have problems with the standardisation of our times. The computer has put everything within reach of everyone. Everything is preset. Every sound effect, every reverb is but a plug-in away. However, everything you hear is digitally produced, and misses depth and naturalness. This album is a reaction to present-day recording and thinking. I wanted to record in rooms that had never been used before by other bands”, says Alex Callier.
Which explains why the band came up with ‘Hooverdomestic’. A project appealing to anyone with music in their heart & soul to have their home transformed for a week into a recording studio for the new album. Of the 180 candidates, 4 were found to be ideal. In every home they came into, Hooverphonic made it a point of honour to use a home-grown instrument during the recordings.
Their songs reached the first ranks in the Belgian radio airplay and “Reflection” was among the list of best-selling albums. It is the beginning of a new exciting trip, an accurate and passionate picture of what Hooverphonic represents.

August 22nd Sinead O’Connor – I’m not bossy, I’m the boss
It is the only tour date in Italy for the Irish singer’s new album “I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss” that will be released on August 26th, 2014.
From her debut in 1987 with the hit “Mandinka” to the global incredible success in 1990 with the album “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got”, to her collaborations with Peter Gabriel and Massive Attack, to the Brit Award Nominate John Grant, Sinéad O’Connor showed the power of her unique, moving and magic voice. And she proved it again in the previous wonderful album “How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?” released in 2012.
Sinéad O’Connor is a real pop icon, one of the few important and influential artists in the last 30 years of music history; She is able to switch from pop to reggae, from Irish folk to rock to electronic.
As usual the festival is promoted by the Municipality of S.Stefano Magra in collaboration with a pool of sponsors that has always supported great music: Conad del Tirreno, S.V.A.R., Contship, Contrepair, La Fabbrica

NOVA FOR EVERYONE
The request from Promo Music International, in collaboration with Dimora Garibaldi, for the permission to realize the UB40 concert there is a further proof of the interest shown in obtaining some room inside “Vaccari” for important initiatives
Therefore on Saturday, July 19th,,the historic band born in 1977 in Birmingham chose our stage for their only tour date in Italy.
This internationally renowned initiative allowed us to achieve important results:

  • To affirm the spirit of the NOVA Project, making spaces and support available to private entrepreneurs who want to use Vaccari factory to realize cultural events and activities.
  • To appraise the soul and history of the “Ceramica”: in fact the group is named after the acronym of a form distributed in England by employment bureaus to unemployed people. Seeing them setting up three warehouses telling about the European industrial history, still alive and able to liven them up with lights and music, made us believe that a new development is possible.

And most of all giving Santo Stefano and Liguria the occasion to host a band who sold more than 70 million albums and filled the most important European stadiums up , thanks to its ability to put its passion for reggae and its political and civil commitment together in their songs.
